Penlog condemns human rights violation in Iran

After the highly publicized imprisonment of a large group of journalists and bloggers in Iran, Arash Sigarchi, blogger and young chief editor of "Gilan Emrooz" newspaper, has been arrested and sent to the infamous prison of Lakan in the northern city of Rasht in Iran. Because of his independence from the powerful political groups in Iran, his imprisonment has not been covered by the Persian media. Iranian Webloggers Center (penlog) condemns this incident, and expresses its concerns about another blogger, Mojtaba Samieenejad. We demand the release of these two and other journalists and bloggers from prison. We invite all bloggers from all over the world to show their support in their weblogs and condemn this violation of human rights. For each blogger or journalist put in jail, we should open a new front to defend our freedom of speech, and push the enemies of these freedoms back.
